Emily Welshhans-Intern

My name is Emily and I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Syracuse University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Ohio University. In my undergraduate career, I ran a couples study looking at the impact of ADHD on relationships. It was there that I built a foundation for my interest in relational work. I have experience working with children and families within the autism community which further informs my systemic approach to therapy. I bring a genuine compassion to working with clients of all backgrounds. I openly welcome couples, families, and individuals. I am passionate about guiding clients in exploring past experiences, identifying patterns, and uncovering inner strengths that inspire the empowerment to move forward. I seek to help those navigating life’s many transitions as well as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship management.

Heather Yates- Licensed Professional Counselor

Hello. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for six years, primarily working with adults who have suffered from grief and/or PTSD using reflective listening and inquiry to support reframing their traumatic experiences. I am also a National Certified School Psychologist, and for nine years in this role, I served children of all ages in their journeys towards mental health wholeness and strengthening of their relationship skills predominately through Dialectic Behavior Therapy techniques. Finally, I am a practicing Art Therapist who has utilized the creative modalities to help all clients, including families and couples, to make insights to activate the inner healing process and develop better ways of thinking about themselves, others and their life situations. If I sound like I may be a good fit for your therapeutic needs, call today and schedule an appointment!

Josie Fish- Intern

I’m a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Colorado Christian University, with an expected graduation in December 2026. My counseling approach is shaped by person-centered and solution-focused theories, and grounded in real-life experience. For the past 18 years, I’ve worked as a lifestyle photographer, and for 21 years, I’ve been a mom—both roles that have helped me develop deep empathy, patience, and the ability to create a safe space for others to express themselves authentically. I grew up near the beach in Southern California, where I developed a lasting love for the water and the peace and freedom it brings. That same sense of calm and openness is something I strive to offer in the counseling space. I’m especially passionate about working with women who have experienced trauma and helping them feel seen, heard, and supported on their path to healing.

Hi, my name is Emily and I am currently pursuing a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Neuroscience and Biology from Augustana University. During my undergraduate career, I developed a passion for working with body image dissatisfaction and eating disorders through engaging in research relating to those topics. I also worked in an inpatient behavioral health hospital, which grew my passion for providing an empathetic and non-judgmental space for my clients to grow. I strive to give my clients autonomy in their counseling journey while facilitating an environment where they can feel valued for their unique qualities. In my counseling practice, I value a holistic model and Person-Centered theoretical approach. My hope is to provide my clients with compassion and empathy to help them feel understood, supported, and empowered in their growth.

Brooke Narum-Intern

Hi, my name is Brooke and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Wellness and Human Development & Family Sciences from North Dakota State University. In my undergraduate career, I spent time working at 988, the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. My work at 988 along with my undergraduate studies have inspired me to approach counseling with an attitude of empathy for all, and the goal of helping clients to understand and improve on patterns and to find their own inner strength. I’m passionate about taking the time in therapy to make clients feel heard and understood authentically and holistically, which is why I practice with a blend of Adlerian and Person-Centered Theories. My goal is that the empathy and compassion I provide will help clients to better understand their past, realize their own resilience, and work towards a future that inspires them. I am especially passionate about supporting clients who are going through life transitions or working through childhood trauma, and helping them to feel seen, supported, and empowered as they embark on this path to healing.

Taryn Young- Office Manager

Hi, my name is Taryn. I’m here to make sure everything runs smoothly so our amazing therapists can focus on what they do best. I do my best to make sure every client feels welcomed, supported, and cared for from day one.

Before joining the world of mental health, I worked as a paralegal, where I learned the importance of staying organized, being detail-oriented, and communicating clearly — all skills I bring with me into this role. As a mom of three boys, I also understand how hectic life can be, and how important it is to have someone on your side who’s calm, reliable, and compassionate. I truly love being part of a team that helps people heal and grow.
